Late in 2016, Democrat Rep. Todd Rutherford introduced the legislation (H 3102). A similar bill was introduced the previous year, but it was never heard. A daily fantasy sports rule was considered by the statehouse but was not passed in 2016. A referendum would be necessary for the bill to become law because it would modify the state constitution. Notably betting on college sports would not be permitted by the bill, should it pass.
